Virginia: A Life makes the cover of Bravo Lakewood Magazine

Offseason, Virginia at Jones Beach, 2011, Oil on Canvas, 36 x 24 in

Sharon's current exhibition, Virginia: A Life, at the Lakewood Heritage Center has gotten a great writeup in the current edition of the Bravo Lakewood Magazine, including the cover image.

The show itself goes beyond just showing Sharon's paintings.   Many of Virginia's letters, correspondance between her and her beau when she was working in Manhattan in the 1940's help to bring that era to life along with pieces of memorabilia from the museum's collection.  If you are interested in history at all, this is well worth the visit.

Oh Baby! New Series of Paintings now on Sharon's Website

Sharon’s new series, “Oh Baby!”, which is currently on display at Pattern Shop Studio (, has been very well received, and several people have asked about commissioning her to paint portraits of their children.  Sharon does do commissions, and the “Oh Baby” show is a good sampler of the kinds of paintings you can expect: not static formal, posed portraits, but dynamic oil paintings based on unguarded amateur snapshots of children and families.  If you are interested in having your toddler memorialized in Sharon’s unique and compelling way, please call or email us at the Pattern Shop Studio to set up a visit.

About Oh Baby!:

Inspired by the arrival of a new grandson last summer, Sharon Brown has been painting babies in large and small format oils ever since.  The result is a spectacular show that opened June 7th at the Pattern Shop Studio, 3349 Blake Street, and runs through August 2nd.  In addition to the new paintings, she will include earlier work from her long career as a figurative artist and portraitist.
